Senior Harriers Weekly Update w/c 27th July
Re-visiting last week’s Darlington parkrun. We finally gained a full set of results which showed Graham Hindmarsh had broken his PB finishing in a speedy 17:46. Superb running Graham. Paul Helliwell also equalled his parkrun PB in 18:05 with another strong run by Anneli Mackenzie-Brown finishing in 26:06. Results from the midweek Cock Howe, 6mile fell race have still not been released with the race organiser being very unwell and the race series cancelled. We wish him a speedy recovery from everyone at the club.
Last Sunday morning up at Hamsterley Forest 137 runners took part in the mixed terrain hilly event. Andy Park was first home for the club finishing in 10th in a time of 44:30 with Louise Talman finished in a time of 45:42 for 13th position and first lady. On Thursday, at the Pinchinthorpe 5k trail race both Shirley Gibson and Ian Barnes competed for the club but results have not been published.
Parkrun roundup. Starting at Darlington, 275 runners took to the start line with again Colin Taylor finishing first for the club in 17:55 for 4th place. Paul Helliwell was next home in 7th in a time of 18:30 with Peter Armstrong in 9th in a time of 19:09. Young James Roberts was next over the line in 18th in 20:15 with James Parkinson smashing his PB to claim 20th in 20:25. Well done James. Craig Stoddart was 21st crossing the line in the same time as James for a season’s best and another step towards full recovery. Louise Talman, who is improving week on week claimed another PB finishing in 23rd position for 20:29. That sub 20 is in sight. Garry Collinson was just outside his PB finishing 27th in 20:36 with Dave McKenna in 31st in 20:58. Steven Wilkinson was next home in 33rd in 21:08 with Juris Silvos 1 place and 5 seconds behind. Linda Noble finished 41st in 21:41 with Stella Jones in 44th place in a time of 21:46. Katie Noble finished 48th in 22:02 with Simon Daniels finishing in 59th in a time of 22:46. Unreal running.
Kate Bower was 194th in 29:56, Junior Freya Talman 203rd in a new PB of 30:36, clearly has good genes from her mum and dad! Stephen Dauber was 214th in 31:03, Linda Tinkler taking it easy with her 10k on the Sunday finished 239th in 34 mins with Leigh Hindle smashing her PB and making massive improvements to finish 250th in 35:25. Brian Burdon was 255th in 35:54 with Anne Hutchinson tail running to ensure everyone got round safely. Further afield in Huddersfield, Emily Halstead finished 81st out of a large field of 516 runners in a time of 22:26. Although this was a PB for Emily she forgot her barcode but hopefully this can get quickly resolved. #DFYBC
Northallerton were celebrating their 1st parkrun and even though a plea for runners not to overload their first event 181 runners turned up to support the local park. The 3 lap course mainly on grass did not stop Simon Rogers who powered home in 3rd place overall around the course in 18:05 with second claim Sharon Barlow 5th in 18:20. Nathan Hemingbrough was next home in 7th in 18:50 with Paul Cook 4 seconds and 2 places back in 9th. Second claim Nathan Smith was next home in 13th in 19:25 followed by Steven Elliott in 21st in 21;39 and Graham Garvey in 26th in a time of 21:52. Graham Bell, who lives in the area finished 33rd in 22:32 with Charlotte Knowles making up the top 50 in 23:55. Shirley Gibson finished 64th in a time of 24:47 and an age grading of 86.95% for the V65 lady. Amanda Garvey-Kovac finished 164th in 36:31. Tracey Owen was the lone Harrier to head to Redcar’s Locke Parke to take on the 3 lap course. Tracey Owen finished 31st in the 134 strong field in a time of 22:00. Good work everyone.
On Saturday some of our runners turned their hand (or feet in some cases) to the Tough Mudder or Total Warrior events. Anne Hutchinson, Jade Hutchinson, Barry Bell, James Hare, Anna Farragher and Andy and Alyson Williamson took on the Tough Mudder whilst Neil Addyman competed in the Total warrior. Jade picked up a bit of an injury whilst Neil has snapped his tendon as well as caused ligament damage. Speedy recovery to you both. To add to the injury list Richard Easterbrook has also injured his ankle away from club training. Hopefully Jade and Richard will make the start line on Sunday.
On Sunday Linda Tinkler and James Baker both headed down to York to compete in the Jane Tomlinson event. 5128 runners took part in the popular, but pricey 10k event. James Baker was first home for the club in a solid 38:12 for 90th position with Linda Tinkler achieving her aim of sub 60 mins by finishing in a brilliant 57:23 for 2476th place. Both achieved a PB so excellent work by them both.
"Captain consistent", Mark Tallon was at it again (that’s running the 400m event in case you were wondering). Mark has peppered the 60 second barrier all season and has again just missed out by 0.5 seconds at the York Summer League. Well done Mark, it will come!!
